North Dakota State Fair Wraps Up Unforgettable Year
Minot, ND — July 27, 2025 — The 2025 North Dakota State Fair has officially come to a close, capping off nine days of concerts, competitions, community, and unforgettable summer memories — and setting a new all-time attendance record along the way.
Candace Berg Installed as American Legion Auxiliary Department President
Fargo – The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of North Dakota installed Candace Berg as President of the American Legion Auxiliary Department of North Dakota at their 104th ND Department Convention on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Candace will be ratified at the National Convention in Tampa, FL, in August 2025.
Fort Totten Days coming July 25 – 27
A very special event that’s been happening for over 50 years is coming later this week as the 57th Fort Totten Day celebration takes place at the Andrew Shaw, Sr. Arena - 3801 73rd Ave. NE, Fort Totten, ND.
Local non-violent rally for Democracy held in Devils Lake on July 17
By the time is disbanded, over 50 people gathered on the steps of the Lake Region Heritage Center in downtown Devils Lake Thursday, July 17 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in honor of John Lewis and his non-violent “Good Trouble” protests. The local people at the rally were joined by thousands across the nation also standing up for Democracy. This was the fifth rally held in Devils Lake since the first “Hands Off” rally on April 5, 2025.
Ramsey County 4-H Wraps Up Another Successful Achievement Days
Ramsey County 4-H members, families, and volunteers gathered June 26–28 to celebrate a year of hard work and learning during the 2025 4-H Achievement Days. The event, held at the Ramsey County Fairgrounds and the new Western State Bank Event Center, brought together youth from across the county to showcase their projects, livestock, and leadership. Many youth earned top honors and purple ribbons, and some earned the opportunity to represent Ramsey County at the North Dakota State Fair later this month.
Unsung Hero: Nels Nelson
At 13 years old, our latest Unsung Hero, Nels Nelson, left home. He bounced around helping local farmers and eventually landed in Arizona with a friend. Drugs and alcohol had woven their way into his life but when he reached Arizona, everything changed. “I thought I was dying of a drug overdose, but I was actually having a heart attack.” Nelson said. At that moment he said, “I asked God to save my life.”
Veterans Complete Flag Pole Project at Fairgrounds
Three veteran groups joined together to enhance the Ramsey County Fairgrounds with a 35 foot flagpole and surrounding flowers.
